Materials Department Summer Assistant Location St. Louis, MO :

Position Summary

During the summer, the Materials Department Summer Assistant will work closely with the Materials Department to help design and implement a well-organized shop system. This initiative will involve assisting in the creation of a series of detailed Kanban cards, which will facilitate efficient inventory management and streamline workflow processes.

Position Details:

  • Duration: 3 months (June-August 2025)
  • Hours/shift: Monday-Thursday 6 AM-4:30 PM

What You'll Do as a Materials Department Summer Assistant

  • Help the department with accurate data entry and various departmental forms.
  • Assist the project leader with designing Kanban cards for efficient workflow management and developing comprehensive work instructions.
  • Assist with preparing and executing training sessions for team members and our support departmental audits to ensure compliance with the newly implemented processes.
  • Undertake additional assignments that may arise based on workload and availability, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Engage in hands-on work that includes lifting light objects, maintaining cleanliness in the workspace, and responding to miscellaneous requests to support overall team operations.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Actively enrolled in a college/university program pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree.
  • Proficiency in personal computing and a wide range of associated software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience, ideally in an office environment or a role that involves administrative support. This experience should include familiarity with standard office procedures and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.

  • Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Displays strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Highly collaborative and collaborative, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
