Overview

The Agile Coach plays a vital role in guiding and supporting teams in the successful adoption and implementation of agile practices. This role focuses on coaching multiple squads to enhance their agile maturity, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to deliver high-value products efficiently.

Ideally you are local to the Chicago area and are able to work out of our Rolling Meadows, IL headquarters on occassion based on business needs.  

How you'll make an impact

  • Coach and mentor approximately 10 squads, using economies of scale, ensuring effective implementation of agile practices.
  • Collaborate with squads to foster a deep understanding of agile principles and techniques, tailoring coaching strategies to meet squad needs.
  • Provide feedback on facilitation of agile ceremonies such as retrospectives, stand-ups, and planning sessions, ensuring they are productive and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Identify and address impediments to squad progress, working closely with squads and Scrum Masters to develop solutions and improve workflows.
  • Support squads and collectives in defining clear and achievable goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and transparency, empowering teams to self-organize and take ownership of their work.
  • Provide training sessions and workshops to enhance agile competencies across team members.
  • Collaborate with the Agile Center of Excellence Lead and other Agile champions to ensure consistency in agile practices and contribute to the overall agile strategy of the organization.
About You

  • BA or BS Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in agile environments, with a focus on coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully coaching multiple teams in adopting agile practices.
  • Certification in agile methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, ICAgile Coach, etc.) is required. Advanced certification (e.g. SAFe Program Consultant) is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and other frameworks, with the ability to apply them effectively at scale.
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence team members and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges in team dynamics and workflows.
  • Ability to measure and track team performance using agile metrics and drive improvements based on data.

The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
